So... it seems some motorcyclists, and a larger number of cyclists are using headcams to record their daily commutes partly as insurance against being wiped out and then blamed for reckless riding and sometimes to embarass the offending drivers/riders by posting the resulting videos on youtube (example here: &feature=related )
So, is this just deserts for the guilty or a worrying expansion of the surveillance society..?

Actually some people have called me indecisive, but in all honesty , I'm not so sure

Nah that was not close - did not touch any part of the bike or rider...
Interesting thought about the webcam being used as evidence of riding

Shame them all, that's what I say. Where would it end, would all those Parliament Square interviews (not your parliament sorry Smudge, but the one in London that looks more like an adult did the plans)... what was I saying? Oh yes, would all those Parliament Square interviews have to be doctored to obscure the plates of the vehicles on the road behind the interviewee? Why stop there, you might have to pixelate the faces of the pedestrians walking past or at least get a team of production assistants to get their written consent.
Grrrrr....
However, I worked in a nightclub in the mid 80s and we once did a video of the crowd. The following weekend we played it on the big screen and were besieged by anxious customers who had turned up that week with different/correct and or less understanding partners, etc. and were desperate for us to turn it off :D

Not all cars of course ;) here's a bit of film proving the rider with the camera was in the right place on the path and the oncoming one was too fast/out of control... :o

i hate the idea of more cameras, but i defy anyone to ride a small cc bike in London and not want the endless near misses recorded.
around here (london) almost everyone drives like a to$$er and treats you like a piece of dirt if you are on two wheels (powered or not).
at risk of sounding like the daily mail we need less cameras and more traffic police.

No insurance, riding on a foot path, more gears than can be selected, and as is often the way, myopic. The 'Whispering Death'. >:( >:( >:(
Need to organise a few more timber lorries coming the other way! 8)
