Met up with Mark (the crusty clown) at the Ogri MCC winter rally on friday afternoon at Kemble Airfield(Cirencester), I really wasn't expecting the weather I encountered, sleet, snow and slush, and to think I went via 'the heads if the valleys' road and Forest of Dean to make it more enjoyable rather than straight up the M4 in the sun.
Anyway, cold but clear for the weekend, the bonfire burned for the 48hrs there, real ale, good food, some good music and a constant flow of free tea and coffee. Mark looked after me with toast and bacon butties which was much appreciated as I'm suffering with Bell's Palsy at the moment and needed some breakfast to have with the 12 steroid tablets I have to take every morning.
The journey home was also a bit of a challenge, especially after picking up a pair of wheels off Steve H in Abergavenny and stacking them on the back of the bike with all the camping gear, came up all but to head height. Then off to Brecon through constant snow and slush to Llandovery and into the glare of the sun for the last 30miles home.
Roll on the Dragon. ;D

Well, Saturday is well documented here: clicky linky thing (http://www.thumperclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=4138.0)
Sunday was shed time, full-on looky-feely over the new toy, fluids checked & changed (don't care what the PO says, I'm paranoid), controls adjusted to suit my hands & feet (why do so many people not bother and just put up with what's there?) - new mirrors on order from WEMoto, 'cause the ones on it are "adjustment challenged" (tr. rusted solidly in place). Sunday pm went to visit the step-father in the hospice, the old bugger's hanging on and giving the nurses a hard time. Evening hooked up with number 1 son and mentioned a wee Suzuki Bandit 600 (stolen/recovered) that he might be able to get his paws on with a deal for Guinevere the GN - this may mean my resignation from thumperdom if it all comes together .....

Last year I bought a '76, CB750, low miles, little used for the last few years. For various reasons the tank needed a re-spray. I didn't want to 'spoil' the original tank with it's special 1970's paint job ::) :-[ :-\, so I bought a used one & took it down to bare metal, sealed it & did it myself, with RS Paints 'stuff'. Though I say it myself, it came up very well for a home done job 8) . It was the sort of finish, that when you parked it up, people couldn't resist giving it a little stroke. I was seriously chuffed, with the job & a little, with myself for doing it. :)
After a few runs, I noticed what looked like sticky stuff on the paint-job. My neighbour has a small leaved Acer of some sort which overhangs our drive, so I thought it was Sycamore sap, or aphid 'doings'. So I polished it off & thought little more of it. After a few more runs out on balmy evenings I noticed more of the sticky stuff, & as this cycle of polishing & running, it dawned on me that something was amiss. Careful scrutiny showed that the sticky stuff was 'pitting' the paint. In places it was pitted through to the primer :o. It was then I discovered that the sticky stuff wasn't sap or aphid poo. It was "mist" from a failed brake cylinder seal :'( :(
That, in itself was bad enough. It was made worse, given the peculiar design of the inside of the cylinder, when I replaced the piston & seals & filled the level up to the 'mark', by the fact that when filled to the mark, it is overfull, & overnight, fluid oozed up, around the threads of the lid & dribbled down the front cheek of the tank ::)
This weekend, after sulking about it for several months, I isolated, as best I could the areas to be re-sprayed, rubbed the top & cheeks down as best I could without bo**ocksing up the £70 side decals & managed to get it back to a decent standard, which will pass muster from about 2 feet.
Lesson learnt.

I had a madly busy saturday morning, part of which was spent MOTing the CB500. After that the weekend comprised childcare and filling in my tax return.
I got the tax return submitted by 9.00 last night, I know you might think I'm daft getting it in early and normally I would go right up to the midnight deadline, but I fancied a pint down the pub.

Saturday, lie in and then (lots of) housework and groceries followed by a few drinkies and bed, Sunday another lie in then refit the old temp switch to the MZ (interim measure) and do some errands (nice to be back on the bike) before fitting "proper" mudguards to my commuting bicycle and finally sorting out my mountain bike as documented elsewhere on the forum 8) . SWMBO then returned from a weekend away with the Guides so it was dinner and schlafzeit. :)
Well overdue lazy(ish) weekend, very nice, lots I didn't get done, but a lot of catching up achieved and today was the first morning in a long time that I didn't feel like falling asleep on my way to work :-\ (note to self, sleep more! Constant fatigue is I suspect rather unhealthy... :-[ )
