Title: Bye bye Wee Arfur
Post by: KirriePete on January 30, 2010, 05:46:09 PM
Yes, it's true, despite having him for less than a year the time was right to move him on, so today went like this:

About 10:30 this morning:

Just over an hour later:

Some bullsh*t and cries of "It's never done that before" later:

An hour after that:

Phone insurers, cough up the obligatory spondoolicks for them printing off new papers (thieving b'stards) then it's "Just going to see how it rides, won't be long!" So there was:

and then:

followed by:

and back to:

to be tucked up in:

.. alongside Guinevere the GN, so I can still get my thumper kicks (blurred vision, numb nuts, the lot), unless LudMic takes her away from me that is!

GC, don't worry about digging out that kickstarter now, I won't be needing it - you can chuck the cash in the club kitty.

I'll send your money back, it's only fair. I actually dug the first kickstart out of its wrapping yesterday because I had turned up two more and I tried them all and chose the one with the stiffest 'spring' to send.

Great pics btw, thanks for posting them

Ok... unless I'm much mistaken your swap was done with a beardy bloke in Aberdeen who used to deal in Ural outfits as well as being a weel kent breaker, now I reckon your first stop may be Blair Atholl but I'm foxed by the others(!)
So am I miles off or warm?  :)

Swop - yes, the Torrie Gang now have their mitts on the wee fella.

Stops - nah, just a quick 40 miles 'get a feel for it' round Angus/P&K - Glamis Castle gates, Coupar Angus (Red House Hotel), Blairgowrie (memorial thingy on the green) then my back garden & shed.  Wearing summer weight gloves ...... temperature sitting at -2 when I got back .... we teuchters are hardy folk!

First impressions - smooth, stable, torquey, comfy, need to re-learn shaft drive gearchange techniques though!

Ahhh right, Glamis Castle, should've remembered that one!  :-[
Blairgowrie was vaguely familiar but I don't know it well enough to tell it apart from similar places(!)
Sounds like I need to get out more and do some touring, I'll possibly leave that 'till the snow leaves the North East though  ;D
Glad you're enjoying the new toy though  :) the older I get (and the more chains I buy  ::) ) the more I sometimes wish for shaft drive!

I actually got out on 2 wheels today. 2 wheels fitted with tyres that have done 2,000 miles with a sidecar attached... they have an interesting profile as a result. I took my CB500 over the mountain to get an MOT (from Cardiff to Caerphilly) and indulged in a bit of scratching on the way. However, I can't say I'm very good at it anymore  :(

We had a light dusting of snow here and in patches the road had some tramlines of the whitestuff... which I would attack with gusto on an outfit and so I have to remind myself that a solo can dump you on your arse.

I do miss my windshield and muffs though.
