Hi guys, I'm the owner of a 1986 XBR500, had it 3 odd years, ride it to work every day- and I mean EVERY day. Apparently only 3 of these were sold in Victoria- there's one for sale in a shop in the city for $4990AUD, with 80000km on the clock
I LOVE this old beast. When I test rode it, I had to work hard to keep the smile off my dial when I took it back to the owner to start haggling ;D I had flashback of being 13 and pinching my brother's 440 BSA, bump starting it (I couldn't kick it up!) and riding the backroads around my house...
But now it's getting a little long in the tooth (130000km/80000ish miles), and I'm going to retire it- I'm buying number 1 son's Shadow so he can go travelling to Europe. I'm wanting to get a few bits and pieces so I can get a roadworthy on it (if I rebuild). The original 2 header-2 muffler setup rusted off a while back, and my local exhaust guy built a new one using the headers from a XR600 as the start point.
I'll put up some pics when I get the chance.
P.S...
BTW, smudge- no kickstart on mine either.....

No kickstart on Oz XBRs then.. another bit of XBR trivia to store away.
I can't see why Honda do that strange different market/different spec thing... we should all have got the dual saddle, spoked wheel GB, not the XBR version at all, they'd have sold millions.

Dave ,
Do you have a large bushy moustache?
It appears from other posts that they were a Hondastyle accessory in the later '80's.
Curious ,
Rob.

No, and it seems the extreme XBR hp has pulled all the other hair off my head.....
As promised, some pics. Excuse the quality, only got a phone camera.

You'll also notice the custom (i.e., home-made) exhaust.....
