I hadn't noticed this model before, but I think it's really pretty:

I think it's a G650X, anyone know much about it?

It's the XCountry, one of a series of three bikes based on the same frame and engine. The other two are the XMoto and the XChallenge.
Apparently all cracking bikes, and as you say, the XCountry is a pretty little thing.

OK, I surrender, middle age must be beckoning. I'm afraid to say BMWs are becoming attractive :o :o
I'm not sure how to cope with this problem? Does this mean my WilderBeast MT-03 is going to get swapped for a BMW x-moto?

Less than 10 litres of fuel? BMW say this will take 155 miles but I would guess that is with optimum driving conditions. Still it is very pretty. MTF

Minimal mudguarding means all that black baked on plastic coating (peelable skin), will be off in a trice. ???
Fixings will be stainless on the outside and bent bean tin pressings under the exterior skin. ???
How do you service it, without dismantling half the brittle plastic with the seized fasteners? :o

Got one as a Demo in the shop.
Same engine as the F650 I believe.
Very Nice bike to ride !

Go look at a three year old one that's actually been used first. The peeling paint and list of warranty jobs should cure you of any notion that BMW's are any different to machines that retail for considerably less and don't need a PC to diagnose ring antenna or CANbus failure.
"Ultimate Riding Machine"; that's ultimate as in Last. Once you get past the marketing, Yamaha and Honda offer the same bang for fewer bucks.

Work colleague had a 800S parallel twin, grand fuel economy, elastic band drive reliable, did the Scottish coastline run in <24hrs. :) Traded it in ???
Couldn't keep the plastic coating/paint/skin/finish ??? on the engine/frame/fork sliders and the alloy erupted in front of your eyes after a puddle (slight exageration ::) ). After two sets of crancases and a set of exterior cases under warranty and the electrics doing a 'die' with servicing bills at £500-00 a pop, he decided enough was enough. ??? Yamaha 1000 Divi now in the garage. :) His wife having put 65,000 miles on a Honda Hornet in 4 years of 365 day use and using Scottoiler365 only during the winter months traded for another Hornet and was complemented on the cleanliness of the machine.
Also the wee Bros here, has >67,000 on the clock, is 21 years old and is used on regular shopping trips etc, polishes up well. Outer cases are starting to go a bit, but regular hose down, shampoo, hose down, 365 and Armorall, then warm through to dry, seems to work OK.

I am appalled at the amount of warranty work that needs to be done.
The black engine finish is better that the silver for some reason.....same with Triumphs

One must point out at this juncture that my Beemer, whilst pretty old and badly treated, is still running and has mostly the original paint. Mind you I don't really care what it looks like !
BMW owners have always argued that 'they don't make them like they used to', and that the /7 series was as tep back from the earlier models.
Certainly true of MZs where the old ones were much more solid, and heavier.
But plastic isn't always worse than alloy, and chrome is always c**p.

Egad! I am mortified at how poor even BMWs have become in build quality. There goes my BMW admiration.
Interestingly, I did start a thread on this matter some time ago about my '08 YBR125 rotting away in front of my eyes, while my 20 year old SRX is still solid with minimal rot. One bike upgrade later, but now rather sadly, my 2 year old MT-03 is rotting away too fast for comfort. Exhaust downpipes are going quite rusty looking etc etc. Bah humbug. Why dont things get built to last, anymore?
