Looks like a "gearsack" rack (if it is? it's an excellent item) Made in Aus I do believe,  I had one years ago on my despatch bike & found it very useful due to the high bar that you could strap stuff to!  I'ts made that way so the bags that are designed for it just slide down over the top of that rail, sitting either on the rack or if you prefer, on the pillion seat!

I should have been a salesman?

Aye Smudge,

Kiwi bush engineering rather than Oz, been around a while and below is the UK URL for all the info:

Ventura_Luggage (http://www.ventura-bike.co.uk/)

If you are feeling really lazy ;) then below is the URL specific for the MZ Skorpion fitment ;D:

Skorpion Model (http://www.ventura-bike.co.uk/system/rackselect.aspx?id=557)

Good job Kurt said WA, else I'd of thought he'd been over on holiday and caught yours or the ex-Comrie one in Perth, Perthshire!

My regards, Bill.

The MZ above is fitted with a "Ventura" by the looks of it (Bulge in tubing near the bottom)
Omegaman is correct in so much that "Gearsack" is an Aussie brand and the Ventura is a cheap and nasty NZ rip off. . . .

Waitng , waiting ... where is Kiwi Terry?

In truth, its not really what I said, I was just baiting the hook. They are both excellent products.
with marginal differences. My "new" TS185 is fitted with one a Gearsack unit, and I have a spare Ventura rack from the old SR250, but never had a bag.

Sorry Smudge, but I was only stirring the Kiwis about the cheap and nasty rip off bit, the product is top rate and well worth the $$$$  If you want it I will swap it for a Metal "Thumper Club" Badge, but you will need to pick it up, postage would be  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D HORRENDOUS.

Ventura racks and their other ironmongery is not top rate, it's just available. Their chrome falls off as soon as it gets wet. But if you want a rack for a 1987 Lian-Fang 165 they probably have one in stock. And it will be of comparable quality to the average Chinese bike.

Thanks Terry, your comment made me check the rack in the garage, it is actually the "Gearsack" one, and apparently lucky its not the other one. I might try to sell it and get some well needed $$$.

Aye, Kurt, I'm still here, but the site only lets me post from Firefox so mostly I don't. I'm mostly riding a Kawa Sherpa these days. Nice wee bike.
