hi all, i was wondering why they dont make large cc thumpers??? i.e. 1000cc??? i know what your gonna say, too much vibration, uses too much fuel, but really with all the tech we have today what would stop it?......was just a thaught......could you imagine a 1000cc Srx/xbr?

To my shame I can't always kickstart a 600cc SRX, let alone a 1000cc 'un.

Electric boot would sort that out? you could even have both for the brave only?

This is about as big as they get - 855cc Harris Suzuki
(http://www.harris855.de/harris855.jpg)
The main reason is vibration- I seem to remember reading years ago that 400cc was the optimum for a smooth single. Also fueling/performance again as I remember it's because it's easier to get more gas into 4 250cc cylinders than 1 1000cc cylinder - greater valve area or something ie you would stuggle to fit 2 or 3 BIG inlet valves into a 1000c single head so you can get bigger area spread over 4 cylinders. No doubt someone who knows what they are talking about will be along before long.

Of course if you're really keen you could try and make your own.....

i would have thought that the torque pulses when you get much over 1000cc would start to get in the way. ive a dr big and suzuki reccomends that you dont run round in the higher gears with the engine at under 3500 rpm. the jist being that the power pulses from that big slug will destroy the big end plain bearing in pretty short time.even with the balance shaft, its still a big slug bouncing up and down in there. the dr is an odd beast, even though its a single, it needs to be revved like a multi to let you get anywhere. so a huge 1000cc thumper would sound like more bother than its worth. after all, if a single is supposed to be simple and grunty, it defeats the object to first have to install balance shafts etc, and then have to rev the engine because plodding round at tickover will make it grenade. having had thumpers of all sizes, i have to say that the best engine ive had in any of them was my old sr500. the dr is just too big!

Now *that* frame and tank as a kit with a selection of engine plates available to take the modern thumper motor of your choice... that would be grand :)

How's your German?
Being Harris I suspect the bodywork will all be their own design and the whole thing will not be cheap!
Bloody Nice bike though!
Just Googled a translation - 10500DM (as they are now on Euro's it must have been a while ago!)

HI, my german is zero??? whats the power/torque out put? is it reliable or just a track tool???

Go to the link, copy all the text and then put it into Google translator German-English it gives you a pretty good translation - enough to understand most of the article.

Well that worked well? but i didnt read anything about bhp or torque just about the frame. what kind of power would it be producing and what torque. was it worth the extra 55cc. The more i read on, the better the idea of a small well breathed on motor sounds. I feel another idea comeing to mind?????...........?????

Something like this perhaps?......

ive had 5 xbrs and all were great but i prefair the srx. there is a big bore kit for 686cc but i dont think 686cc would be much better than 608cc. im currently on a srx400. so we will have to wait till the new year to see whats gonna happen.
