Hi following my last question re starter clutch I got the starter to engage long enough to run a compression test and found comp to be only 120psi should be 172+or- 21 so have decided to go for a top end overhaul. can anyone give me any idea on what the cam chain tensioner special tool looks like or is there some other way to release the cam chain tension so I can get the cam out and the head off.thanks for the link to dutch site for starter clutch .Thanks again pete b ;D

I can lend you a cam chain tensioner tool. PM and we can talk about it.
Having said that, when I bought mine it was only about £8.50 so it might be worth trying a honda dealer or David Silver.

To get the cam out you just have to pull out the pin that holds the tensioner assembly in place. To refit the assembly I have always used a large scewdriver to push the spring in, then I slide the tensioner into place and insert the pin. I don't like to think how many times I must have done this.

When you do get the head off you may well find a hairline crack from the plug hole to one of the valve seats. Don't Panic! ...it's an XBR thing, most XBR's have this crack any it doesn't usually cause any problems.
