Handlebars and seat unit apart that really is a good job. Do you still have it? And out of interest what are the wheels, tyres and exhaust?

It's a good look Boyd. I think the trick is to get it looking 'period' and not like a sanitised Storz body-kitted Sportster. That piccy of a similar (CB250RS-based) cafe racer I posted last summer had the look nailed, imho. Yes get the spanners out but on your version. Why not fit a battery and a air filter in the big hole under the seat. it looks made for it. Without a kickstart how does the one pictured get started? I have just got my GN400 his mot sorted, iam thinking along the same lines.

What'd you do that for? Just got the mental image of how I want things to look and you send me a curved ball. Now going for an amalgam of the two, lovin' the high rise pipe.....
Spent most of Sunday stripping the spare frame and grinding off any extraneous lugs and brackets. Wifey couldn't understand what all the fuss was about but I know angle grinding is good for you!
Mike (aka Gaylord) - you can see a teeney, wheeney electric start on top of the engine (Japanese only model probably). Also have a look for the GN400 Pat Civil created in the photo gallery, it was luverly and good to ride. He gave it a name which escapes me at the moment!

I think you will find that Jethro Tull is saying, its the best place for the battrey. Anyroad the small starting motor still needs somewhere to get power from. Wait i just had a idea, have the battrey in your pocket for that minimalist cool look. There is more why not have number plate and lights on yer crash hat, you would look a right tit but bike would be cool.

I already have a special holder for my battery - fitting a AAA is not too bad but doesn't last very long, where as the longer lasting D really make my eyes water!

So... mine and Rog's idea that we should have a lightweight special build-off seems to be bearing fruit (if that phrase isn't tempting some ribald retorts).

Well battery tech has improved of late so eight top spec AAA cells. Will do the job and give you 12v good and proper. May i suggest that rather your other place for storage, tucked down a cumerbund or a nice silk shirt sleeve would be splendid. The Solar Panel would have to go on the roof of course, which might make the skid lid a little unstable what with all those lights an stuff.

What we were talking about was how easy it was to pick up a cheap lightweight which you could then set about hacking about to make a cheap special. Being a budget build the emphasis needn't be on perfection, just fun.
(Bertie Wooster voice) A bit like dating waitresses and whatnot, lots of cheap fun but you needn't worry about introducing them to a frosty Aunt Dahlia...
Tangents, tangents, tangents... I often wonder if I could medicate my mind into submission ;)
