I bet it ends up at £500+ It's not like the old days when people gave away XBRs for nothing and scrappers could be bought for £75 (that's why my garage rafters are full of XBR frames)

True, though the new exhausts have got to be worth £250-£300 ish ( no longer available)
I'm still scouring the local rags for a proper cheap MZ to do up - days were you could pick them up for pennies, now they all go straight to Ebay, even the wrecks.

I was having this discussion with Richard in the pub last night, he and Steffan are big MZ fans, but apparently it's not like it was, some spares are getting scarce (and who would ever have thought that?).
I've heard that someone in the Lampeter region has cornered the market in second hand MZ tanks and is hoarding them... eh Steffan? ;)
As for that XBR, if it has new(ish) exhausts and a good rear wheel then it's worth £500 regardless of the condition of the rest of the bike..

Wow that's a nice one - pinstriping on the tank isn't standard but looks pretty good! It'll be interesting to see what it goes for.

To be fair, it's worth every penny of that. I have noticed that XBR's are starting to creep into the classsic classified ads more and more and prices are slowly going up....as for GB's, well they are just on another planet - recently saw one ( a very nice one) for £3750!

£1,270.00 seems like a very good price to me. I wonder what the reserve was, I am sure they would not have paid anything like £1,270.00 for it whether as a direct purchase or in PX?
Maybe there is a hint of dealer greed here?

As a slight aside, a local car dealership recently took in a Mint, museum quality Morris Minor under the new Government scappage scheme!...God knows why anyone would get rid of something like that under scrappage - unless of course it was a bereavement case. Dealer was in a bit of a quandary as, cars taken in under scrappage are supposed to be scrapped - but this was far too good to scrap. They were trying to get a museum or collector interested in saving it, but i bet they would want more than £2000!!

As for those classics being traded for the scrappage scheme, the big issue is that once they are accepted for scrappage they can't be re-registered for the road, that's why a musuem or collector is the only option for keeping them from the crusher.
