swmbo owns an NSR125 with a blown engine which has also been in bits for some time... I've spotted this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=280361568835 and am considering buying it and sneaking away to pick it up this weekend so I can combine it and swmbo's bike as a little surprise..
Thoughts?? ???

i bet thats a right hoot on twisty roads. you could make a right nuisance of yourself by continually putting it all over the superbikes.
love it!

oh yes, old style sports 125's are a giggle... but I just wonder if this is ok and a bargain or a dreadful nail with nothing worth saving...... :-\ so hard to tell from an ebay advert and too far to go and check it out :(
If it's ok, then I can do a quick strip build (lots of good bits here) get a fresh mot and job's a good'un, if it's a nail with a knackered engine then I just have a more crowded garage and poorer bank balance :-\
I'm very tempted to place the minimum bid anyway as it's been listed once and attracted no bids and it's the right model for me to canabilise (and getting rarer)...

The comments about being bump start only and the occasional overheating would have me worried.

Yeah :-\ bump start only is an easy fix, I have a starter etc. the overheating comment does worry me though... maybe best just to re-assemble the better bits of motor I have and send the whole lot to Mr Stephens for a new big end and rebuild in the hands of one who knows two-smokes...
Similar cash (or less!) and at least I then get a known good motor.

Also depends on why it is overheating - may be an easy fix - like flushing out the coolant and putting i the right mix? Or could be more.
Sounds like a nice game mind.
Now I have a Maico 440 crosser lump - aircooled - should fit nicely in the spare chassis.... ;D
