Though I just noticed the date... if it's still there offer them £50 to tidy their garage ;)

A lot of serial bike buyers recommend only using month old mags and classifieds for exactly that reason, if it's still there the buyer will be more likely to reduce the price.
I think our chum Furry John has employed these tactic to great effect in the past (iirc).

Yes it worked with the 900cc R75/6 Bmw, GC, but alternatively my latest purchase was the reverse, I was phoned and told of the dealers advert having been changed and this bike being added one evening, rang the next morning, said I was interested, drove 230 miles, paid a deposit of £1000, the dealer said it was mine and I left for home, he rang on the way home to say if I wanted to sell the bike he could get an extra £2000 for me without me actually paying anymore, I said no I wanted to keep it, collected it yesterday (another 460 miles), the dealer said he had offers of all manner of illegal/immoral ploys to sell it to other people and bugger me as I put the bloody thing up the ramp into the back of the van outside the shop, a German was hassling me to sell to him for £3000 more than I had just paid.
The "last months magazine" method only works if it is a bike that is not selling well but you want in particular and are aiming for cheapness. Some bikes only quick action means you get it.

You are right, I must be a serial buyer, had'nt thought of it like that before. I must stop now, no room in the sheds or garage.
PS Thanks GC or Steve H for the diplomatic edit, logged on to do it myself but it was already done.

Bet that sounds as good as it looks.

"Bet that sounds as good as it looks."
I wish I knew, it's brand new, completely dry, never had oil nor petrol in it, I have had to put oil in the forks because they squeeked so much when I pushed it around the garage. I am trying to pluck up courage to try and run it at Mallory Park at the 1000 bikes festival. Don't know yet, I'll take it and then decide on the Sunday.

Aye John,
I just hope its got guts in it! ???
Wouldn't take it anywhere near a track without checking it through and if it's stood for any length of time with no lube. What's perished, seized or needs adjusted? Caveat emptor by the bucket full, in my cynical world! :-\ :-X
Looks nice though :)
My regards, Bill.

Could'nt agree more about the track!!, there is a guy going to be there with starting rollers etc. The idea was just to spin it over and get oil around in it, try a plug in it and play with the Gardner carb to try to get a usable mixture, if it runs I'll be happy. A good sort out of the various nuts bolts etc. at home and then down to Llandow to see if Nevilles' claim of 54 Bhp will pull me along in first
