Just back from the Bob Mac at East Fortune, Thumper heaven!! I think we should pen it in the diaries for next year and meet up there to watch the racing and camp over the Saturday night.
All sorts of glorious machinery from the horrifically expensive to the very... erm... affordable(!)
I've put a few short clips from the paddock on youtube and will upload a couple of short clips of the racing later, if you look on the "more from smudgegs" bit you should find them. &feature=channel
Met Bill and Kat and some of their friends, and some very very pretty little Ducati thumpers too
Going to go and have some supper now and enjoy the faint smell of Castrol "R" which seems to be following me around 8)

Some lovely sights and sounds there. Didn't get down today (took a spin round the borders instead) but thinking about going along tomorrow if the weather is ok.

tbh I'd forgotten what a great meeting it is, I used to go as a teenager then all the other stuff got in the way, but it is just such a relaxed friendly place I've been missing out, and the stroll through the paddock is worth the entry fee on its own ;D
The Honda four in the clip...well... unless you have a large amplifier, and sympathetic neighbours, then you wont hear what it really sounds like, 4 into 4 empty megaphone exhausts, "loud" is a very inadequate word :o
Mind you, a couple of the big singles were giving it a run for its money!
I was stood next to the assembly compound when a parade group were forming up, the there were two of the Hondas, an Adler aircooled 2 stroke twin racer (even louder), a Velo on a fishtail (amplifier rather than silencer as far as I could tell) and a selection of singles on various exhausts including meggas... not only was the ground vibrating properly the volume was making me feel mildly queasy :o 8) 8) 8)
I could have stood there all day :D
Edited to add: That's all my video clips on youtube now, the photos are far better but too big to upload to a freeserver without resizing (which is a pita and very time consuming) so just as a taster for now here's the smallest racing thumper I've yet seen...

That little blue thing has an 80cc four stroke in it and is the cutest bike I've seen in a long time lol

Agree with Smudge - great occasion for a meet. I took my son - his first proper outing on the back of a bike and the first time with a pillion on the CBF. Very sunny while at the races and just got back home before the heavens opened.
Lots of pics at http://www.pbase.com/niblue/bobmac2009 (http://www.pbase.com/niblue/bobmac2009)

Wonder when he realised that his petrol cap was open?

The speed the petrol will be pouring through the taps of that two-smoke it probably doesn't have time to splash out the top! :o
:P ;)

Aha so it is not open, it is just an enlarged vent to allow adequate fuel flow?
