Met Smudge as planned and did a spin round some Scottish Borders roads, including a recce visit to the Tibbie Shiels Inn (where yet another bike/trike group looked like they were there for a rally).
Lovely weather, empty roads once we got past Peebles - very nice:

it was indeed very nice, cheers for that 8) not long back here.
Oh and for those coming camping the pub has Belhaven Best ;D and the photos were taken not far at all from Tibbie Shiels.
Splendid stuff, now I need to fetch a shovel to get the layers of dead flies off the screen/lights etc... :o

I was visiting friend tonight in Tweedsmuir, so can't have been far away from you guys. Like you, I'm covered in dead flies and the (newly mot'd) XBR is manky now. Spectaular views on the run back from Biggar to Carnwath, just as the sun was setting.
Note to self - remember to take ear plugs the next time I take the XBR out for a long run

Can't have missed you by much as we went through Tweedsmuir and then did the Broughton-Biggar-Carnwath road, also not long before sunset.
I could barely see out of my visor by the time I got home.

Sorry not to make it. Ebaying some of my Dad's stuff after getting home from work at the back of 19:00hrs. Enjoyed the piccies. Thank you for posting them. My neighbours pair of nesting swallows were having a good time feeding tonight above the wood and the air above the wood was thick with insects from about 20:00 on as we had a some food, out the back. Pipestrelles came out at about 22:00 for a feast.
Toodle pip, Bill.

They should not have gone hungry!

Hmmm, that's rather like the view out of my front window... NOT! :D
Marvellous scenery, very jealous.

;D The good bit isn't that we have marvelous scenery... the good bit is we have hundreds and hundreds of miles of it, and I'm still discovering roads I didn't know existed every time I go for a trip ;) ;D
Seems we are slowly growing a bit of a Scottish membership.. there's me, Bill, Niblue, crackedhead all in the Central East (roughly), anyone else? :)

Cooee! Kirriemuir calling, have some more scenery chaps - pics taken Tuesday evening within a 15 mile radius of Kirrie:

There are 4 bikes in this pic, honest!

Probably one of the last runs for Miss Whiplash the Dommie - in the middle of a haggle for a smaller thumper (one the lad can ride on a restricted 33bhp licence) plus some bits for Arfur the XBR - watch this space.
-
B****r! Sorry Pete, I thought I'd missed out someone but I just couldn't think! XBR's seem the weapon of choice up here!
I'm guessing you couldn't find a cheap restrictor kit for Ms Whiplash? Never mind, I shall watch with interest to see what the new one is :)
(edited because the swear checker misses some out! )
-
Could've got a restrictor kit no problem (kit stays in box, paperwork goes with bike), but the lad had a KLR250 and didn't really get on with it - too much like toppling off a ladder on every bend, parachute into the wind and feet too far forward for support, just like the Dommie.
Having spent more time on Arfur I'm tending to agree, plus seat like a plank after 50 or so miles - just back from 120 mile sortie deep into Teuchter territory on Miss W, ooh my ar$e!
-
Aye Pete,
I thought Kirrie was Teuchter territory! ;)
Piccies are good, is that the road back in from Glen Isla towards Lintrathen and then on to Kirrie?
As for the XBR's, just my luck not to be in the club. :(
MZ Tour going for MoT some time next week. Sally will be getting her legs dismantled and the wearing bits replaced. Hope I don't find any of this moist lycra the Celtic connection are fondling or putting over their heads in the valleys. :-\
Ciao, Bill.

Just the leading edge, it gets worse as you head north.

Close enough - Backwater Reservoir, just off the Glenisla road. Lots of little crooks and nannies like that round here - no traffic, no scameras, no cops, lots of twisties and sheep (for DSA swerve test practice!).

Don't worry about the XBR, we're in the much more exclusive Skorpion club ;) Good luck with the MOT :)
-
Aye Pete,
Know it well ;D Nice bit for testing the main jet to the east afore you get to the nature reserve ;) Caution there for the twitchers, especially after using a 'scope for a few hours! ::)
As for the sheep :-X, well 'Wooly Maggots' is about as graceful as I can be! Some of those glassy eyed old blackface and their offspring seem intent on hari kari. Whilst others are so 8) they are just taking the wind from the passing vehicles. The problem with a single is that they all think your on a quad and carrying feed! ::) COME BYE! AWAY! HERE! Good b.., COME HERE YOU F'ING USELESS........! ;)
Is the alpine nursery across the road from you still on the go?
Keep boppin', Bill.
-
Ta Smudge,
Kat will be putting through the test.
Hope the snow forecast for Tuesday stays up high. I remember 6th, June 1975 to well! :o
All the best with punting the Mastiff, I'll have my nipple back afore it goes! ;)
Toodle pip, Bill.
-
Snow?!? :o That one passed me by! I certainly hope it's wrong, quite enjoyed the wee heatwave today, and diving tomorrow so as long as the wind stays away I'll be happy.
Mind you, I am sat in the quiet of the back garden just now having a dram before bed so I can't complain really :)
Good point about that cable nipple :D I think that one dissapeared a little later and couldn't be found (but by then I'd got my hands on a replacement cable) keep reminding me and I'll get you another one for when our paths next cross ;D
