Title: SRX aftermarket seats
Post by: leah on May 18, 2009, 10:00:18 AM
Hi. I'm new on here & joined because I've got an SRX 600 project I want to build. Been looking at some pix & really like some of the seat units I've seen. Instead of the brick-like item on my bike they are nicely shaped with a dip for the rider, a hump behind & then tapering down to line up with the tailpiece. Anyone know who makes these?

Also, can anyone suggest a suitable replacement for the standard shocks as I want to lower the bike by about 2" for a shorter rider.

Thanks for any help ....

SteveH will probably move this to the techy section.....but yes, If you look at my Blue #4 SRX6 (sad tale elsewhere about this) Its in the current gallery (first to come up when you go to the piccy section) about half way down.....if that is the sort of seat you are looking for, I have a local guy (who re-upholsters classic cars) who does them for me, built up onto the original base to my requirements....costs about £60 - 70 depending on materials and piping etc

I sure can.....but not sure where you are in the UK (he's in Kings Lynn), what I usually do is, if you send the seat to me I can drop it off to him with your requirements (colour/shape etc) and allow 6 weeks for the job.....he's good but slow (maybe the 2 go hand in hand)he works from a lockup workshop/garage so sending stuff to him is fraught with all sorts of difficulties.

oh yes....and welcome to the nuthouse :)

Hi again steve. sorry for the delay getting back, been away. Now back & regarding the piles of bits in the garage! Re the seat, will probably hold back on that til I have some sort of semblance with the rest of it. I emptied all the boxes last night to see what was what, & now got more questions.

Firstly, is there a decent manual for the bike? Secondly, I bought what looked like a SRX silencer from ebay but it only has one pipe stub on. Two headers... ??? How does this work. Is there a bit missing? Have I bought the wrong silencer? Thirdly, where's a good place to buy stuff like exhaust gaskets, carb diaphragms, inlet rubbers etc.  Grateful for any assistance with this, it's all new to me being an LC fanatic.  :)

Looks like you have bought a silencer from a monoshock SRX, they have a single entry point. Can you post a picture somewhere.

www.wemoto.co.uk give a pretty good service

I have a manual on PDF I'll PM a link

I'll take a pic this weekend but I think you're right  :'( If it is from a monoshock bike is it possible to use it on mine?

You would need the 2-1 headers from the mono and I doubt the bolts holes will line up, but you never know. The twinshock silencer is a close-ish fit to the frame so expect it to be fiddly

I used the monoshock headers on an SRX twinshock mated to a peashooter silencer with an adaptor pipe.....worked very well
