HI All - especially those of you in SOuth Wales. Anyone have a number for a reliable gas fitter - just worked out why it is cold in here - and no it is no tthat it is cold outside - it is the dead rodent and associated chewed wires etc inside the gas boiler. Lil boy (5 months) back on Sunday so would like to have warm house and water for a bath by then. Any suggestions?

Rog,
Sorry cant help much the guy I use in Abergavenny is unlikely to travel that far.
An interesting point I found out the other week is that there are diffrent levels of CORGI registration, not all fitters are registered to work on Central Heating boilers. Aparently its printed on the CORGI card they carry.

Hi Al
Thanks for the thoughts and info. Old boiler man - who came back from hols - passed me on to one of his old mates. Problem sorted. Dead animals evicted and gas pipes repaired all for £40. He was happy to stand outside in the cold repairing the damage rather than sting me for a whole new burner unit - which he could have done and would have been none the wiser. Operative word is repair not bodge BTW for those who may be worried.
He is a central heating guy and does travel as far as Cardiff for any who may want to know.
Now just need a builder handyman to refit the dunny and renovate a stone archway before lil boy brings it all down using as a climbing wall.

Not sure what categories are now, but there used to be 15 parts to Corgi. 1-5 is the basic that you need, can cost £700 upwards for this part plus time off and other parts are done after this. This means you can test gas installations and not much more. Then different installations require different parts, e.g. boilers, central heating installation, warm air heaters, gas fires, cookers, all should be listed on his card, this is why gas installers have to charge more now. You got a good deal there Rog hang on to his number.
