have a look at this on 'you tube'.
its a zxr400 Vs a KR1S, both 60-70bhp.
fast forward to the last 25 seconds.
the rider is apparently a classic world champion and the bike is a matchless G50, a 500 single 2 valve from the late 50's and early 60's.
proof singles rule!

Camera bike seemed to spend alot of time out of the powerband, but hey I wasn't paying for the mechanical rebuild
But maybe the single was a race bike, and the others were road bikes with the lights taped up ?

Mind you, when I rode my 612cc Bullet in last year's Classic Bike Burnout trackday, it was very clear that it ain't really the bike that matters when you're out there on the track - it's the rder's ability and bottle! There is a huge, yawning gap between a proper racer and a wannabee.
And just for the record, I did some overtaking of other bikes, but not quite in the style of this bloke....

I had to laugh when the KR1 went passed and gave the traditional "friendly wave" ;-))
Doesn't a 400 four sound lovely? I thought he was in his powerband most of the time, bearing in mind that when you rev a four like that into the red the power drops off quickly and the rev limiter should cut in...?
Liked the big single though, that was all rider and very little to do with bike/power. I spent the whole second half of the vid listening for the blare of an approaching megga :-)

Also make a hell of a difference if you need to ride home on the bike you use on the track! I was always lucky enough to drag my sorry arse and the remains of my bike back to a van, but its not much fun, and bl**dy expensive, if are more than a few miles from home when you bin-it!

Yes the matchless rider looks so good, I'll bet he would make the podium on a standard CG 125
Either that or he is built like a brick sh*thouse and is not worried who he takes out, because he is confident of winning the fight afterwards in the paddock.
