Title: Freephone numbers
Post by: Jez F on March 04, 2009, 11:30:05 AM
Heard of this site from a mate, www.saynoto0870. Gives the freephone numbers for companies that use a premium rate number. Apparently anyone who has a premium number has to have a freephone number as well, but they don't have to let you know about it! Just tried it with my insurance company with an 0844 number and it works, so I won't mind hanging on the line for ages anymore!
 Happy dialling, Jez

Actually from memory 084 is a national rate number which means IIRC that you pay a flat rate regardless of where in the UK Is etc excepted and the callee gets a slice of the action.

You're right that it's a flat rate, but if you can pay nothing to make the same call, why not. It was an insurance company after all, and they must make a tidy sum from all the calls where you are kept hanging on, listening to musak and automated messages trying to sell you more 'products'.

Our BT line comes with unlimited free calls to normal numbers but we pay something for the 08 series of numbers.  Had a look for some local rate numbers I have to use at the mo and there was no freephone number - but a national number which I can now call for free as I have paid for it in my broadband
