Not personally. We had one in at work a while back,I seem to think they were based on the 3.0 litre Capri.

Princess Anne.

Is this a competition for naming Sciimitar owners or something then ?

Hi Andy,

Yes, I had a couple in the 70's, why do you want to know?

Hey John,

I need an impractical white elephant of the british motor industry to waste time (but not too much money!) on when the race season is over.

As I rode my misfiring DR650 to birmingham a coupla weeks ago, 120 mies in a blizzard, with this b'stard kangaroo-ing about under me, visor freezing, hands frozen, feet like ice, I decided....

2009: Year of the Car  (for me).

Bikes are fine, good even, but even a leaky, draughty, noisy, thirsty chariot with crazed bodywork would have been preferable in those circumastances.

Having had a (fibreglass bodied) LDV, I know that brit engineering is mighty cheap, uses old technology, and is relatively easy to work on.

Just weighing up pros and cons.  Maybe chat off-list (too boring for tc members!)??  Whats your email?

cheers

Not sure about the source of the running gear....but Ford V6 is a good motor.
My old man had a Mark 4 Zephyr with a 2.5 V6 and fare dos it went well.
Big old tank could do 90-100mph easily, but watch the fuel gauge drop !!!!

That V6 was around for a long time in different guises and capacities.
Depending on model and country 2.0,2.3,2.5,2.8 and 3.0 much better than that 1.7/2.0L V4.

The Reliant, sort after cars now,a lot lighter, more aerodynamic light right foot(Yeah Right!),shouldnt be too bad.Not like Series Landy 22mpg on a run !

Hi Jethro, There were two different families of V4 and V6 engines. The type fitted in the early Scimitar was the Essex V6, also available as a 1.7/2.0L V4, 2.5/3.0 and 3.1V6, easily identified by the front mounted distributor.
The other was the Cologne range, 1.2/1.3(Taunus) 1.5(Saab 96, Taunus) 1.7(Taunus, Capri, Transit) in V4, and 2.0L,2.3L and 2.8 V6 fitted to Capri, Taunus, Granada, and Transit's of German build and later Scimitar's,TVR etc.
  I'll get my anorak
