Bugger.  Worst venue I have ever been to, with the possible exception of Caernarvon airport.

I really don't like Anglesey, don't want hardstanding and 'facilities'.

I wonder how early you need to get there to get a patch towards the beach? Making the best of a bad job and all that  :-\

Venue new to me but sounds absolutely fantastic ::)

Was looking forward to somewhere a little more scenic.

Unfortunately in these days of 'Elf and safety' I very much doupt that the Dragon will return to some windswept mountainside field.I really liked last years site but if it did have a river running through it and it has been very wet,a bit like Capel Curig the other year.

To flesh out the term 'crap'... it's got a big huge concrete car park, it's in Anglesey, it's windswept and boring.

I agree with Andy, the closer you can get to the shore the better if you want some real camping.

If you go through the main car park then there are a couple of nice spots down the small lane.  What say we aim to get to them.  On the other hand I don't want to hurry a perfectly nice run through mid Wales just to get to a car park early.  I have a few nice mountain roads in mind, snow permitting.

Whoever gets there first, make a bee line for those spots near the beach. Isn't there a hut down there or something? 8)

In short, if I am to finish my Masters this year, ie: graduate in June and still be married and intact,  :o I need to complete my 20,000 word dissertation on social trinitarianism by the 26th of March. :-[  I also have a particular 3 day event that same week which I have to attend (viz not optional). So alas my good friends, I shall not be with you this year as you cram yourselves into that tiny but poxy prefab they call a bar at the Anglesea race course.  :P Think of  me as you all, half pissed, perform that rather strange and definately camp bobbing thing you all do,  ;D and remember, even if I was there I wouldn't be minded to participate in such grossly suggestive and lewd behaviour.  ;)

'Stephen Edwards MA' - it sounds like the making of a good detective show  ;)

A sort of cross between Cadfael and Quincy I'd say.

Are you using Quincy as a swear word  ::) ;D

I would never use Quincy as a swear word, he and I share a common trait... he never did finish that boat, I will never finish that café racer.

etc etc

Actually for the record, assuming everything else pans out it will me MTh not MA. Actually MZ would be more appropriate.

Seeing all those Zeds doth almost tempt me to attempt the TT myself in the not too distant future.

At least the weather looks right:

Mon-Thursday Snow over most of the North
Friday: Sunshine
Saturday: Snow or rain
Sunday: Fine but cloudy.

If we get a nice covering for the run over then descend into damp and dreary Anglesey it'll be a bit of a PITA, but the Pennines/peaks in sunshine after a bit of the white stuff will be pretty enough.

There's the solution, hold the Dragon in the Pennines!

At least the Black Pudding would be fresh and you'd be able to get a decent bit 'o tripe 'wi pint!

Actually, isn't there anything similar in Scotland? Snow is almost guaranteed probably an hour out of Glasgow/Edinburgh without the cost of ferries.

If it does snow, attendance on Anglesey is going to be interesting. The "rather not get the GS/Wing/Harley dirty" brigade will stay at home, as will anyone who doesn't fancy the dreary race circuit. A rare badge year?

I've just checked with the Met Office . Looks promising , as you say Andy. Thermal foundation wear ,with the fur gusset ,being prepared as we speak .

I expected it to snow , as I'm taking the Xs 11. What could be more suitable than a 600lb dinosaur on which to slither to the Dragon.

The C90 rider I met in Austria was talking about a camping meet in winter at Cape Wrath.

Aye GC,

Snowline tonight starts at Dunkeld. It is also lying on the hill from ~100m up. Heavy persistant rain/sleet with a steady breeze from the SE which is rising at the house, now!

As for your Austrian friend going to Cape Wrath on a C90 in winter! ??? It takes all sorts. :-X If there is no wind, you'd be fine, but you wouldn't hold the C90 to the ground if you had a good blaw! ;D However, there are caves near bye which might be cushty ;)

As for Andy's black pudding "At least the Black Pudding would be fresh and you'd be able to get a decent bit 'o tripe 'wi pint!" Stornaway black pudding has NO pears. The Free Church would also have something to say about anything happening after Saturday 24:00hrs! :-X

Go canny and all return safe from Angelsey.

Slainte, Bill.

Now that sounds like my sort of place Bill. The midnight shutdown suits me just fine, at the Dragon I normally shift enough by the time they start the Starsky & Hutch/70's porn music band to be ready for a lie down.

Funny you should mention a midnight finish. The Tauerntreffen organisers ask attendees not to make any noise on site after midnight. It made a refreshing change.

They also ask people not to drink too much and, more importantly in avalanche country, not to set off fireworks.

Cheers
