Nice sidecars, better looking than the Ural lookalike they sell here. Any ideas as to what the engine is ?

A reliable bike and a sidecar ;)
You know it makes sense.

The bike looks like one of those funny singles that BMW make - Scarvers, or whatever they're called. In which case the engine would be a water-cooled Rotax - anyone with a Rotax-engined bike confirm this?

Engine SOHC Developed by Jialing and Austrian Corporation AVL.
Not Rotax but similar.

Hmmm.....as a CS owner I take exception to that description of a wonderful bike, young Richard ;) , I do see the BMW/Rotax connection though as there is more than a touch of Funduro styling going on there.

I rode a Scarver once. My enduring memory is of the little ledge for your sandwiches, on top of the tank ;)

Bird table for broken nuts! ;)
When I looked at a 'showroom' model with ~0 miles and with rust in the corners of the aforesaid 'bird table', it didn't make me desire to own one! ???
The name and styling is just 'naff' and :-X :-X :-X
Night, night, Bill.

BMW never wanted the F650. Their salesmen were always trying to sell R850's and 1100's to anyone with a 650 and you could tell anything 650 related was left to agency people, graduate trainees and the like in Munich/Berlin. The Funduro name was just as daft as the Scarver thing. Back in my days of BMW ownership I had a CS as a loaner. Only hassle to me was lack of range, otherwise a nice bike. The twins were just as bad corrosion wise as the F's BTW.
Now that JH600, looks interesting. I wonder how the waterpump is driven :-\

I'd like to point out that when I say I rode one once, I meant once, as a try-out of a friend's bike - lest I be embarrassingly associated with it. I didn't own one.

Oh, don't be shy Richard! ;D
If you had bought one, it would been part of lifes 'rich tapestry', or empty pocket! ;)
I still have a F650 to rebuild and Xmas/New Year passed without a glance, :-[ well, maybe a peek, but nothing constructive. ???
Healthy 2009 to you, Bill.

Do you know, I'm not sure I've ever bought a bike I'd be embarrassed to admit to. I've probably paid some embarrassing prices ...

I bought a Benly CD200 and I am embarrassed to say that. Heap of rubbish. Sold it for a profit, mind! :D

Rode a CD175 for a while, that was hideous and s**te! Mind you, I cafe racered because it was too ugly to bear and it and it was a bit of a laugh then, if only for teasing/confusing the local yoof with ;D

I had a GN250. It was a carp bike but I still had some times on it (200 miles at Xmas with a 2 1/2 foor teddy on the back). So I'm not embarrassed by it ;-)
