I've had quite a successful go at polishing up the alloy adjusters on a 2nd hand pair of Hagons to a near mirror like finish by making an adaptor to fit and putting them in a drill chuck, then using valve lapping paste and wire wool/solvol. Would I be able to get the same sort of effect on the engine cases? I cant afford to send them away to have them professionally done, but like what Ive achieved with the shocks, so was wondering if anybody else has had a go and what you used.

I have a bench grinder with a couple of polishing mops and soap, its not perfect but works fairly well, and can be used for lots of different jobs. Bench grinder was £25 not sure about the mops

Aye Dave,
Bits of wire wool become embedded and can cause points of electrolytic corrosion. ??? Use the different grades of scouring material (like green pan scourers) with the Solvol. Also good for removing rust from steel, without getting the steel wool into your fingers where it festers and goes septic! :(
