All wrong, except for Bill cos it is kinda beige ???
Nope, I've made a fibreglass fuel tank!
Well at least I've made two halves of a tank and now I've got to create fixings for the fuel tap and fit the filler cap flange Mr Stringer made me before I stick them together.
Also made the side panels and the front mud guard too.
Chuffed to beans me. ;D Once that little lot gets fitted I can start on the seat hump and tail piece and then I can sit on Abigail and pretend she actually works ;D ;D ;D

Think he's off sailing for a couple of weeks. Always scares me to hear of SteveD sailing, what with his water fixation. He did tell me at the Annual he once just walked off the end of the boat pissed!

We've all been there. like when I lay down on the tank of my RD and pretend in drag racing.

Nope, I've made a fibreglass fuel tank!
Fiberglass fuel tanks were banned at one time due to the fact they disintergrate ! Due to vibration and when falling off and they burn quite nicely.
I'd be inclined to look into construction and use to see what might be said there.
Plastic tanks werent allowed for road use for a good while because of this.
On the whole I think plastic is better than steel or alloy.
Dont want to see SquirrelCV with petrol soaked nuts do we

Thanks for your concern about my nuts matey ;)
You've given me the nod on fibreglass before and I've used your pointers in my design.
1) I've used a high grade, chemical & heat resistant resin (at considerable expence I might add. 4x standard price :o)
2) I've used 2 layers of woven glassfibre cloth sandwiched between 3 layers of 450gsm Chopped strand matting. The woven cloth has the tensile strength of steel.
3) The seam is designed to have 15mm surface to surface contact area and will be overlaid by glassfibre tape.
4) All tank to frame contact areas are rubber and there are no fixings being used to hold the tank to the bike. That is being done be a strip of Nurse Gladys Emanuel's knicker elastic (or something similar ;D)
Add to that this is going to be a toy bike for sunny days only then hopefully my nuts should be safe ;D
What do you lot reckon??

Soon matey ;) Just want to get the finished item shot which is awaiting the fixing of the fuel tap and fuel cap bits.
