Took No 1 son to see the latest Indy Jones film. Thing that struck me most was that the bobber (nice!) had what looked like an Evo motor (definately no Knucklehead) and there was a dirty big master cylinder on the handlebar and all this in 1957. What is about bikes that turns us into anoraks?

Did you find yourself wanting to cheer when Indy first appears and puts his hat on after picking it up off the floor? We did!
A set of four fiilms spanning 25 years, and all as good as each other. Superb.
As regards the Harley, I cant comment, they are far too agricultural for me to know much about...

It's not just bikes... try watching anything with Landrovers in when there's an afficionado in the room!
Oh and just *don't* watch the majority of war films with squaddies unless you want a running commentary on what the actors are doing wrong (with a couple of honourable exceptions).
Of course watching "Ultimate Farce" with them just elicits lots of laughter ;D
I'm told when whatsisname from Eastenders/Ultimate farce was preparing for his documentary about Afghanistan he had to go on the ranges and when his score was read out on the tannoy the words were "Lane x, xxpoints.. SAS my arse" :D

Watch 'Casualty' with an A&E nurse. Mind being with nurses and my mind wanders so maybe they are making comments about how good it is...

It's anything mechanical. We all know you couldn't get a Harley with anything hydraulic in 1957 in the same way we know a BMW piston won't fit in a Yamaha engine except by luck or a petrol engine won't run on Diesel. You need the detail to be able to sucessfully use the equipment.
I used to watch westerns with my ex-cavalry grandfather. Seeing John Wayne riding 200 miles at the full gallop then firing off 1000 shots from his carbine or hitting something with a pistol while riding full tilt used to reduce him to histerics. I guess the Holywood version is just more spectacular on the screen.
The best one however was the bloke in front of us in the anorak who walked out half way through Train Spotting saying "wasn't what I expected". Student humour no doubt ;D

Yes, I went to see the new Indy film a couple of weeks ago with wife and No2 son..It was a very nice Harley ( I don't usually like Harleys!). Like Steffan, I noticed the engine and master cylinder and pointed this jem of knowledge out to my family who gleefully informed me that I was a sad git! :-\

Anyone see Casualty last night? Nice red Ducati made well after 2000, starts with the sound of a kick then runs with the engine note of a brit single! Girlie doctor riding it had to hop on and get off after somebody, so sets off without gloves, but manages to get them on before she crashes.
I'll get my coat.

One of the all time classics was one of wee little Tom's mission impossible where the engine and tank on the speed triple were bullet proof and the tyres changes from road to extreme knobblies mid chase.

Nothing wrong with anoraks, perfectly good items of clothing in my opinion, wouldn't use one a bike though, although I have done before.

I do !!!!!! Always have ! And the 500 four stroke ! And The collection of Jawa/CZ I have had.
Buggger Me THATS a lot of bikes I've owned with the Kick Start on the Left !
But I am stood along side of it
