Well I asked him by text today and apparently he did 1200 miles, got a numb bum, found Scotland stunning (of course ;) ;D ) and came 24th out of 50.
Sounds like a damn good effort from the big man!

Hello
I love it when a plan come together:
The borrowed Transalp preformed faultlessly, carrying me nearly 1200 miles from Stoke to the following: the Commando memorial at Spean Castle (north of Fort William), Eilan Donan Castle (made famous by the film 'Highlander'), The Museum of Island Life & Flora McDonalds Grave both in the North of Skye, the Ullapool Museum, Inverness (for a few hours kip), Holy Island (Lindisfarne) and the Angel of the North, and back to Stoke. The weather in Scotland, and throughout the whole trip, was fantastic. Of the original fifty starters only twenty-nine completed the Rally - there were a few mechanical breakdowns, two deer 'strikes', and several finishers disqualified for either insufficient miles (1110 minimum) or bonus points (25,000 minimum) - some failed by a matter of a few miles or points ( a real bummer). I was given a final position of 24th.
So thanks for all your support and interest, plus your offers of bikes due to my gearbox failure. And finally a very big THANK YOU to TrophyDave for the loan of his bike with just a 'gentlemens agreement' being all that was needed for me to ride away into the sunset - a real good egg!
I'll try and write something a bit wordier for the newsletter.........

Well done Boyd, on two counts:
1. you represented your club and home town of Blackwood with honour and dignity
2. you outblagged Duncan! I ask you, blagging a complete taxed and roadworthy bike!
