Very good articles, but what a mess of an engine. 4 cams each with a gear and so much lash that Harley have to select each from a choice of seven sizes at assembly, yuk! Timing at 630 degree intervals so the lost spark system will work with a 45 degree V and single crank, double yuk! I guess the tuning boys sort of highlight the problems because they've got solutions, but the whole V-twin thing makes a thumper or even a British or German twin look really sensible.
