...til its gone!
My old SRX: the orange one with the lairy gold frame. This introduced me to the TC, and gave me a happy trip to france before it picked up in the bore.
I removed the motor, part-stripped it, and left it in the loft. Fitted a 400 motor, and ran the bike into the ground. SteveL got that chassis a couple of months ago, JohnG the 400 motor, and Supermono stalwart Dave Bennet took the old 600 motor for rebuild as his spare a few weeks ago.
It was a 1JK model=608cc=96mm piston. Dave was going to bore it to 98mm=633cc
However, he phoned me back in a bit of a pickle. He said the liner was a bit thin.
No Dave, that was a 608 motor, I'm sure.
But he had measured it as 97mm=620cc
As soon as I got back down, I checked the old scored piston with my vernier ("very-near" ;D ) caliper.
It was 97mm. So I had actually been running a 620 SRX all that time. While reading up on tuning, and lusting after a few more horses, and thinking wouldn't it be cool to have a big bore motor?!
Funny eh? Wish I'd paid a bit more attention to it now re the top end valves, ports, carbs, jets etc!
All that time Iactually had what I wanted!
However, the next SRX I bought (the one I ended up racing) had the same sized piston, but flowed, ported and CR carbs, pipe, etc and was a world away from that first bike.
Seems daft (misled?) for someone to have spent money on the big piston and to have neglected other stuff in the top end.
Anyway, just thought I'd raise the point. SteveH you rode it and I remember at the time you said it seemed a bit livlier than yours. I think at the time we put it down to the extra holed drilled in the end of my (standard) silencer!!! :D
Cheers for now,

Yep I seem to remember getting bored following the french rideout and ended up making an arse of my self tearing past them on your bike at full throttle, then realising they were all going a dfferent way.
The motor definately felt stronger than mine.
