Graham, how goes the Beemer gearbox job then ?  If you read last Saturdays Motoring Telegraph they have an article on a chap who bought a dirt cheap Beemer off ebay then rode it back from the Austrian border.  Similar gearbox issues with water etc.

I shall be back in a week - off to Paris for a few days now- and will be available for consultation on the mysteries of the /7 on my return.

Thanks for the loan of your puller, the output flange came off with a bang.

G/box not too bad actually. Some minor surface rust on the pinions (and I mean minor) and only one of the bearings actually feels rough (although I will replace them all of course).

I'll take a picture the next time I'm in the house in the daylight (it's been a cow of a week).
