I have been accepted as an entrant for the first Iron Butt UK Rally in May - 1,200 to 1,500 miles in 36hrs. As the only bike I have is the Domi that is what I'll be using. Only major problem is fuel range which at the moment is around 120 miles till reserve. So my question is:
Does anyone have, or know of, a long range fuel tank (probably Acerbis) for a 1997 Honda Dominator?
Have been told the Acerbis XR600 tank can be made to fit but it is bit of a bodge, and as most of the Domi bodywork has to be junked I'll pass on that on.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Have a look at Touratech.
They do a few things for Hondas, and HPN.
But the trouble is,its going to be Big Bucks !
I do believe my mate Martin Fox is going to do The Iron But on his Africa Twin.

Might be useful if you have the space, also many years ago you could get an external extener tank for the Honda postie bike ct90/ct110. maybe you can find one at the breakers

Add a few bits of strapping and the front wheel from a C90 it would make a brilliant sidecar; I wouldn't need fuel for several months!

I know you're getting horny just thinking about it you dirty ba**ard!!!!
Thanks for all the other, serious, replies. Typically the moment I put out a plea for a tank one comes up on Ebay. New they are expensive to buy and usually made to order (six to eight weeks wait). Lets hope I'm lucky!

Tempting, but first I'd need to perfect riding whilst in a constant wheelie :o

or if you are broke/cheapskate use or copy the panniers from an old Armstrong MT500? iirc they were made to take a half size jerrycan either side. Machine mart were doing frames cheap to take jerrycans last time I looked (some time ago mind you :-[ )

Dave K had a big tank from his DR in plastic (Acerbis) that could not be painted! He may still have it. The alternative is to get a DR Big and have done with it. When I put the 3 teeth smaller rear sprocket on I can easily get 400Km's to a tank before reserve which is in itself 7 litres!
Ha, ha, ha, ha ,ha :D :-*
