Title: Very long shot, non-thumper
Post by: Steve H on February 18, 2008, 10:31:46 AM
Does anyone have a Diesel Injection pump timing kit for Lucas CAV pumps they would be prepared to loan/hire me. I need to change the injection pump on my Citroen ZX, and will need to tool to time it in correctly.

I may be able to help. If its the Citeron it is the Peugeot engine and from memory its just 8mm short bolts for the pump and cam and a pin of about 5 or 6 mm for the flywheel.
Send me your email and the year and engine type and I will send details from autodata.

Ken, cheers for that. Your right, to lock up the flywheel cam and pump its three bolts. What I'm after is the dial gauge etc that fits into the pump, so I can set the pump timing correctly.

I have the adapator for the bosch pump but I think the CAV goes in the top and its a bit tricky. If your fitting a S/H pump you could mark it as it comes of the old engine and fit to yours in the same place as the pulley is keyed and the blocks will be standard.
Just a thought but depending on the year of your car it may have a chip to prevent theft and if so will need to be programed.

This is it

Ken, thats the tool. My original plan was to change the pump, however Ive found somewhere that will just repair the seal. Hopefully this means if I carefully mark the mounting plate I should be able to refit in the same position. If this doesnt work I may take you up on your offer.
Cheers
