My 'just going for a ride' days are few and far between these days, mores the pity.....really should get out a bit more, time was, before #1 son started producing offspring we'd often just bu55er oof round the norfolk coast of an evening.
My memories of 'just going for a ride' in my childhood were in the chair of my fathers Sunbeam model 9,  when the whole family would pile in/on the outfit of a summer evening and burble off round the surrey lanes ...Box Hill was popular even then, and we used to stop at a pub in Effingham Junction (honest...that was the name of the village) where I used to be bought a half of scrumpy...because it amused the rest of the family that i'd fall asleep in the chair immediately we set off home....and stay that way until next morning......those were the days

Ah !  It'll take a little more than a half pint nowadays !
And I bet you will get up several times during the night to relieve yourself ! ;D
