Title: Any New Years' resolutions?
Post by: Bill Rutter on December 31, 2007, 09:43:08 AM
I've been and signed back on at the gym this morning after my night shift. I gave it a go the year before last and was doing quite well. Then a mate got me to join his gym closer to home to save on parking fees and petrol but it just wasn't the same and I ended up dropping out. So it's back to where I feel more comfortable. No targets other than just to enjoy a good workout two or three times a week and see how it goes. I can't carry on putting weight on and expect not to have to pay a price somewhere along the line.

This years resolution - this is the year I kick the ME/CFS out of my system and get my life back.

I really have to start eating more healthily. While I spend a lot of time making sure my kids eat properly, I end up not being bothered to cook decent grub for myself.

And I have to stop being a lazy git and finding reasons not to do stuff that really needs doing. Like the small but persistent oil leak on my XBR...

New Years "Resolution"  Oh Bugger, New Years Resolution,
I've always thought it was revolution!!  That explains why I've been going around in circles all these years

To finally finish getting my SRX working again and back on the road
To move home (2 bedrooms and 6 people is a wee bit cramped)
To change my main work/job to 3 days a week
To change my underwear (only joking...)

Plenty of targets for this year, but above all others I have to clear my personal debt because experience has taught me that needlessly keeping your family poor will lead to the end of your relationship with your partner.

Oh, and stop annoying people in pubs  :)

I'm with Bill on this one. Need to lose a couple of stone! Also need to pull my finger out on the Team-Thumper racer, now that the excuse of Xmas/New Year is out of the way.

Need to ride more.

Went straight out the window yesterday when we decided against going up to the milk bar at Sherbern in the rain  :-[

Ride more, tinker less (can't see me keeping this one) and have FUN.

Fun is that thing that the government & co would rather we didn't experience !!!

Andy M - how far do you live from Squires, I'm in Harrogate, maybe meet up sometime ?

I'm in Morley, South Leeds, so probably slightly nearer than you.

I was thinking about getting out there with my Dad on Sunday. I'll post something if/when it gets organised, certainly before tomorrow night. Failing that we'll have to get organised.

I know this sounds like I'm a boring old fart etc etc......but I really am going to try and make my house carbon neutral......or as near as i can get......whether my efforts will make one jot of difference or not...at least I will be setting an example to the kids (well, I say kids they're 35 and 38!) and grandkids and neighbours and friends.....well, thats the plan....don't look too good having a sodding great volvo 940 in the drive and 4 bikes in the garage..... >:(

What's wrong wi that Steve?

All recycled and nurtured rather than the latest flippity gibbit with digital excrement as long as your arm.

It may use less fuel, but how far did the new one get dragged round the world for our whim and how much new raw material did it use up?

Keep tinkering with the old stuff, your grey or rain water bog flush with a wood burning stove and you'll be doing fine. Just look at what we've just been through and we'll send 80% of Xmas and New Year frippery to land fill in 44 tonners! ::)

It's all very well ranting at China but their footprint is ~3 tonne per person per annum. GB is ~10 tonne per person per annum. Pot calling the kettle black again. We'll do our wee bit and all be up for Dictator! ;D

Did any body watch BBC2 at 21:00 hrs tonight 4/1/2008? If you can try and see it, your head may be a lot better for it!

My regards and thank you for the space for a rant, Bill.

Aye Bill,
But the recycled barf water gets a tad smelly whilst in the holding tank (summat about anareobic fermentation) anyway....suffice to say, when we have posh people round it has to be switched to mains water.
and the back boiler on the woodburner is fine, but it's 60k btu, and draws a lot (a lot lot)  of heat into into the heatstore, which, ok is pumped out to the rads, but it's difficult to get the woodburner up to it's best temperature (clear glass and 500 degC chimney temp).....next thing is the wind generator and solar panels.......before next winter I hope

might even get some work done on me bikes lol

You picked a nice day for it. Didn't make it myself, usual combination of house/wedding/family stuff limited the ridr out to a drip to B&Q  :'(

Still, there is next time.

The profile thing seems to work an odd way round. You can always mail me at bulletandy@ntlworld.com.

I knew squires would be packed when a dozen rice rockets passed me on the way to B&Q. Was I jealous? Oh yes!

Shame Andy, there was a lovely maroon BSA B31 parked right outside the main cafe, started first time and sounded super..... as you can probably guess rice rockets are just not my thing !!!
