My SRX piston after my trip to Holland. Will teach me to 'run it in' by hammerring for hours on the motorway. It partially seized on the way home so I suspect its a bit of a mess, only done 1000 miles as well.

Were you too hard on it? Or VERY unsympathetic?? Thats not like you steve!
Is it an aftermarket hi comp job??
Sorry to hear that mate. My mate's weslake race motor nipped up on the isle of man, but he caught it in time. Smoked a bit for 100 or so miles, but he was gentle with it and seems to have got away with it...
Hmmmm. I know your pain brother!

Genuine Yam XT piston (595cc) , it happened on a very dark stretch of the M4 which I didnt wantto stop on so I chose to carry on on a light throttle to the next services (5 miles or so). Lesson leant, I'm never very patient with running stuff in, it was getting up to 120deg C on the motorway, then in Holland I just thought sod it I'm going to enjoy the ride rather than pussy around.

Aye, we've all done that. Generally tho, you expect to get away with it. And often do...
Hmmmph!

Bad luck Steve, I don't remember much pussying around on the race for the ferry. Hope it is not too bad. Mart

Aye Steve,
Sounds exactly the same as happened to Sally with the 634cc Wiseco, installed before I bought her. Reverted to standard bore and ran it in as previously discussed with oil changes. So far so good, revs to 6500 in the gears. My sympathies won't let me go higher and neither will my pocket!
Hope it all comes down and goes together easy and the bearings are still OK.
Cheers, Bill

Good to hear you got back ok. Apologies again for the hectic dash.

Can I have the piston as a plant pot?
R
Sensibly - I hope it is an easy sort and not too damaging on the wallet - and the piston and bore are OK
