Title: New project wanted.
Post by: levers on November 11, 2007, 12:46:42 PM
Hi fellows thumperists.
having just sold my old CX500 cafe racer project, I now want a single cylinder 500 to 650 bike to convert to a cafe racer. I have placed an ad in wanted, but just backing it up with this.
Let me know if you want to clear your bike for a cheap price up to £350!!!
I'll wait for the flood of offers!!
regards

Oh!! Was that yours mate?!!  I see !!  Oh well, it looked interesting, glad you got it sold and can come back to the fold!!

Sorry, no projects going, but you shouldn't have too much problem picking something up.  Lots of hot Honda XBR stuff in John Goode's shed!  (hot as in thuned, not as in nicked!!)

Cheers!

Hi Andy,
Yeah the CX was a bit if a whim buy. I saw it advertised as 'Mint' 'original' 'Low mileage' with a price tag of £500. So I thought it may be worth a punt, so I went to see it, but it was a bit of a dog.
I bought it for £250, MOT'd it and used it for work, but it was so ugly and ponderous I decided to cafe racer it. It then was quite cool looking, but still ponderous! And the most uncomfortable bike I have owned.
I japenses guy bought it and rode it home to devon! he is still undergoing surgery to remove himself from it! But seruously he loved it, and is helping me look for a SRX, XBR or similar.
Hopeful;ly something will come along soon.

I'd like to see a piccy of this CX caffbanger. Got any?

I have lots of XBR stuff in the garage, but a complete bike I can't do. (not enough rear wheels, not enough engines).

If you want to go the spoked wheel route on an XBR, I am currently trying out a 400/4 rear hub as a potential route to spokedom. Pat has also done some work converting an NX650 front hub for XBR use.

Cheers
GC

OI!! GC, family show, don't you mean your (ahem) "comfort wear"  :-X

Don't like them putting the wrong name on the tank but other than that, yes, very pretty :)

Quite right old chap, poor show on my part.

As anyone who knows me will testify, the amount of restraint I normally show on this forum is immense. My off-forum banter is decidedly blue-book.

Beautiful.. Really beautiful... which makes the following statement harder to say.... I bought an RF600 suzuki... but it does have a single pot! (just four of them... ahem!)
And to rub salt in my wounds, i got offered a cheap SRX600 the day after i won the suzuki on ebay!
Now I am trying to get the cash together and hopefully have both!!!
maybe I'll have to flog the faithful RS!!

Very nice Damo,

I see you've lost non of the class in taste.

The third picture down, whilst having an attractive 'topless' filly in the background, is somewhat spoilt by the 'line' of the 'cherry bomb' exhaust. ::)

However, the 1st, 2nd and Final images are all rather tasty looking bits of kit! 8)

GC, you'll just have to visit Mothercare for a 'pelican bib' and bulk packs of wipes! ;)

My regards, Bill
