Title: YAMAHA 1984 TT600 CARB PROBS?
Post by: petrolboy on November 05, 2007, 06:39:36 PM
Can anyone help?  My 1984 Yamaha TT600 idles for about 5 mins then cuts out, starts again OK but when ridden for about 10 mins it cuts out and refuses to start. I have a right leg the size of popeye's with trying to kick the bugger. When I leave it for about 30 mins it starts but does the same. It also pops and farts all the time ...Any ideas please? :'(

I have had similar issues with a Superdream and a Triton in the past - both occasions it was little drops of water in the carb bowls getting drawn up into the jets and blocking them off - letting them stand and gravity pulled them back - soon sorted.  I also understand this can be caused by the carb getting too hot and the fuel vapourising.  Have never suffered that one though.
