Title: Heated Visor
Post by: Andy M on October 31, 2007, 11:52:31 AM
As winter is approaching and I was well impressed with my heated jacket (and the heated screen on the company hack), I was wondering if anyone ever tried a heated visor?

They seem to be used by snow mobile riders as they not only prevent misting, but also keep your face warm. Should be easy enough to drill some holes in an old visor and run some fine wire. The net says about 10 W will do the trick.

Well thank you for all the suggestions  ;D

Yes I am getting soft, but mostly in the area of prefering a non-misted up flip front to the goggles.

The pipe has a minor issue in that it usually takes me about 12 matches to get the stuff to actually burn and keep going. Some sort of petrol-electric igniter system is tempting but probably rather dangerous!

The hair dryer isn't so daft. From my VW Beetle days I have basically what you describe, aimed at demisting the screen a little sooner than the piped exhaust gas system on the Dub. (I used to carry goggles in the car, when the heater started to make you cough it was time to open the windows regardless of the outside temperature!). Said "hairdryer" and some plastic tube........ :-\?
