Title: XBR big bore kit?
Post by: SteveC#222 on October 05, 2007, 10:02:47 PM
A bloke down the pub sold me this big bore piston kit for the xbr.  Do you think I'll get away with a rebore or will I need to re-sleeve?

The sleeves are fine - but the legs are a little short.

The American thumper forum had a section on tuning, and if memory serves correctly there were always new sleeves for big-bore pistons. On the other hand, I can't see any reason one couldn't bore out the existing sleeve as long as it doesn't go too large. I think 600cc is the outer limit, but there were problems with bores approaching 100mm. And of course the head's a worry.
