For those bored of my inability to make a decision about a new bike, fear not, I have just discovered the Yamaha MT-03. I never realised it existed as a 660cc single! Whenever I have seen one of these I thought they were the MT-01 with a huge engine. How wrong I was. Suppose its my fault for not reading the motorcycle press......
So, anyone ridden one?
I bet it does more mpg than the DRZ400 :D
I bet its engine lasts longer than the FMX650 ::)
Just scouring the interweb thing for a cheap deal. Best so far is £4699 :o

According to the blurb it is a totally new engine, but you could have fooled me.
The exhaust layout precludes throw overs etc so it seems only good for short runs etc. still looks good and I could get my feet down, just.

Not sure why it precludes throw overs - used them on the RD500 with its high up pipes. Had to be careful on the packing - OK it had some plastic over them, but you can do the same but fit it to the throw overs. Or have I missed something
Looks real nice to me

I havent seen one in the flesh but do quite like them. The engine looks closely related to the SZR/XTZ 660 engine. I would imagine it would be a pig to keep clean.

Clean?! :D
My last sponge has been eaten by the mice in the shed........
I rather like the look of them too. Looks just the ticket for everyday use. You can even get a proper Yamaha backrack for attaching my packed sandwich box to.
Hmm. New, or second-hand?

surely thats the szr 660 engine? so why not get a nice cheap roadworthy szr?
-
Must be similar to all the yam 660's, but for some reason it only has 4valves (not 5). I like the look of them, I would go for a low milage second hand.

Just browsing MCN website and second-hand ones still command a high price - £3700+.
Will really have to test ride one first before buying as that's a LOT of money! :o
