Title: Local cycle shop sale
Post by: guest27 on August 22, 2007, 06:23:16 PM
Local cycle shop has a sale on - hence the title - mainly of secondhand brakes etc he has stripped of for people.  So I am wondering will a set of second hand V brakes be better than my poxy cantelever ones..?   ;D

Of more interest is the box of monoshocks of MTBs as £2 each - now they are not nice shocks and some have rust on the damper rods but they do look sexy and small - but what could I use them for?

Ditto they have some real basic front suspension forks - probably runner block type - for £5 each - now should I get a set for No1s (next) bike?  they are crap shock front ends but will they make the 15 year old lil bike that has been round the family and friends look more pukka?

They also have a selection of gear clusters, derailures, twist shift, bars, pedal cranks etc if anyone needs sommat - all at real low prices - as I said most is used stuff that he has kept for use as spares and now he needs to clear it out - for stock taking.

Oh not a lot of it is brands that I recognise - he sells nice but low end bikes - not gas pipe clunkers, but not Marin either

evening,

v-brakes are much better than cantilever ones, especially if you get the 'parallel push' ones that have a little lever on them so the pad is always parallel to the rim.
If you see a pair you'll see what i mean, but you might need different handlebar levers as more cable needs to be pulled to operate the v-brakes.
