Title: srx kickstart lever

will any lever fit or does it have to be an srx.

i askas my other half broke mine earlier, think it was already fractured though so i cant hold it against him.

As far as I know they are specific to the SRX. I'm sure something llike an XT600 kickstart could be made to fit, failing that they occasionally come up on Ebay but usually at a price.

hi, this is chrissy's other half.

i've had to register, a she missed out some information in her first post.

the kick start lever was fractured in half, as its was rusty half way across.

and that i only had to be on it to start it, as she was having trouble getting it started.

so, if anyone know's where we can get a replacement. it would be great.

Mine looks like it has been broken and welded back together. No further problems in 10 years ownership, although there's a lot of wear on the pivot now.

I've read that you can use the XT lever if you also change the shaft, and from memory this can be changed by removing the clutch cover. Never done it so can't confirm this.

If you do find another one that is a straight swap with or without mods it would be really handy to know for future reference.

Yes they do come up on Ebay.....last one went for about 40 quid!!
Yes you can use an XT lever, one from a 600 XT, the splines match...but...........
it has a pinch bolt and associated lugs...so....
as the clutch housing on the SRX is VERY close to the kick start spindle.......
you need to weld up the 'pinch split' (without getting weld onto the splines!)
then grind off the lugs.............simple as that

and yes...I've done it a couple of times
