Chaps, whats the word on the street about DRZ400SM bikes? I have met a few on my daily commute and they look quite nice & interesting and well able to cope with London pot holes.
I am sick and tired of my SRX not working now for nearly 4 years and my wife wants her CBR back (plus its knackered) and I feel like splurging some of the banks money!!
Any advice gratefully received.

ahoy hoy!
there are two versions of the dr-z. one is a bit feeble and runs out of puff very quickly, the other is the enduro model which has vastly more power and is exactly what most people want from a 400 single.
test ride both and the enduro feels like a far more usable bike (you won't be ringing its neck to keep with the traffic) and is a lot more bike for a bit more money.
also you can't buy the non-enduro and mod it to the same power as the internal engine parts are different. however i have no idea how you recognise the enduro from the other models.

and if you want to rid yourself of that awful srx (is it a 6?) and gain a few bob for your deposit, drop me a line
cheers

My SRX is one of the 400E models.
Rust in the tank got through to the carbs. No matter how hard I try I just dont seem to be able to get it to run. I will have to think about selling.

there are 4 models of Drz400 in the uk 2 enduro models one with kick only and the DRZ400E with leccy foot, both have flat slide carbs higher comp and a few other internal changes.
Trail version Is the DRZ400S CV carb i think, and the SM model that hackbridge is on about is a different bike altogether but more based on the S than the E models. Its a good fun bike once you get rid of the poo exhaust system.
