Title: POTD 16/07/07
Post by: guest27 on July 16, 2007, 12:17:34 PM
The spoon has the wrong finish and the whistle is not attached properly to the kettle.  The stove is facing slightly the wrong way to the wind.

I think what the artist is trying to say with this work is that gas stoves are in fact THE king of fast brews. Notice if you will, the proud stance of the kettle, spout pointing regally toward the skies, handle sweeping back as if (as it surely is) it's some sort of admiral at the bow of a dreadnought steaming ahead to destroy the enemy. It is filled with pride and seems to almost puff out it's chest to be upon such a stove.
Take a moment to consider the mug and it's placement. Behind and slightly angled down to the front, as if bowing to the mastery of the stove. I feel the choice of colour here is also significant. red the colour of danger, but our noble kettle shows no fear and has turned his back upon the implied threat. Also, is not the spoon symbolic of a dogs tail? erect and almost wagging, awaiting the pleasure and attention of his master?
Finally we see the gentle side of the stove implied by the choice of surroundings. Lush, green grass soft and delicate, not burnt and scorched as if a leeking petrol stove had been used. No sign here of the molten tent or incinerated sausage. you can almost hear the russle of the grass, something that would have been impossible if our artist had tried a brew up on a mini NASA rocket burner!

So there we have it, incapsulated in film, the proof that GAS STOVES ARE KING OF THE BREW-UP!!  :-)

Thank you Pat for appreciating my artful creation! It took me ages to get the kettle to balance like that so that it didn't destroy the ambient surroundings. Made a perfect cup of tea - just what the doctor ordered.

Gas is King.

It really is me submitting this comment. For some reason I cant logon to thumperclub while I am at work - tells me I dont exist! Probably some corporate rule thing running in the background...and logging everything I type.
