Hello all,
Re. this fecking competition mag on the Triton.
Obviously it needs a puller to get it off the taper. not my big hammer....!
There is no advance-retard, (either auto or cable), thus I'm presuming its on a constant "full advance".
Can I guage opinion please? Will this be a pig round town, or at anything other than full bore? (originally the bike was a sprinter). He'll get the mag checked out, and possibly fettled professionally, but would he be better simply fitting the easily available Boyer Unit? (I have this on both my norton twins, and have not touched them since fitting) I have suggested to him that the value of a BTH Competition mag could almost buy him an alternator, PowerBox, and Ignition unit.
What would you do? Trick, impractical bits? Or punt it and go for modern replacement? I think I probably go for the latter, even with the cafe-kudos offered by a nice mag!

Hi
Modern stuff. I think you can get all you need built into a mag case too - so looks same - rather than the KR etc mag replacement doobrie that is only about 2 inches long (with the boyer within) - which also look cool.
If it was a sprinter - what cams and compression is it running - these may well be a bugger round town too?

I would check out MZ-b as they are doing ignition and charging systems for all sorts of stuff these days and their kit is bloody brilliant 150W out of an MZ 2T and the best part is that it is all plug and play. Worth an ask before you go getting magnetos rebuilt.

I keep confusing this thread with the one below about MCN. Must be something in the title!
Totally agree with the advice about MZ-B, their stuff is impressive.
