Hello there Thumpering types.
I thought I'd report on progress made towards getting the Mighty Midget back together in one piece at least. Huge progress today.........drum roll please...........the back brake pedal is back on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray, shouts of glee all around.
Well it is progress.
Ian
It has given me a bit of an enthusiasm boost so that's good.
-
Nice one Ian. 😁
-
I try to do at least one thing every day (easy for me being one of the great unwashed pensioner cohort), even if it's just sitting in the garage thinking. Ir lying awake at night trying to design sidecar fittings......
-
Thanks chaps.
My wife recently threw out a two seater setee from the front room and I put it in my garage until I could get a friend with a van to take it away. However I have found sitting on it staring at the MM has given me time to plan next moves which is giving me great pleasure.

Luxury! I just have a ratty, oil-stained Ikea folding chair that was deemed too scruffy for the house.....

“Good” I’d say “That’s excellent Ian” great news. Looking forward to the next instalment. You’ll be out riding those Yorkshire dales roads again with us before you know it. Cuff& bacon butties are on me
Cheers, Michael

Not wishing to be offensive Michael, but a Yorkshire man offering to buy me a bacon butty and a cuppa spurs me on more than any old setee in my garage! Before you lead the howling mob with their pitchforks to my door for such a slur on the generosity of people from God's own county I have to tell you that my wife who is a Yorkshire born woman approved that joke. Mind you she grew up in Lincolnshire from the age of 5 so perhaps she doesn't count.
Ian
Why do our garages always end up being the home of furniture not good enough for the house?
-
Well the exhaust is back on but as I was doing it I realised there are loads of little issues that I ignored last time the MM was on the road that make it unlikely that it will go back on the road. It.needs a new clutch, stator, front disc, headlight the list goes on and the cost mounts up. Time to face reality. Its just not worth doing I'm afraid.

Evening Ian. Hope all’s well?
That’s a shame about the MM, do you intend to get something to replace it?
-
Hi Michael
It is a shame but a realistic choice. I just want to play with my Enfield as I've now finished chemo and am doing well. If I do replace the MM in the future it will be with another GN250 as they are affordable and I know them well.
-
Well done on biting the bullet and accepting it's past redemption. Many times I've struggled on with stuff well past its realistic recovery point, wasting money and time. Good to hear you're mending well yourself.
-
Thanks Ian it was the right decision. Thanks for the good wishes too.

That’s excellent news Ian. Probably & hopefully a big relief for you and all your loved ones.
Hope everything goes well for you going forward 🤞
Cheers, Michael

Thanks for the good wishes. I am very fortunate indeed. All progress from now building back my strength and coordination. I look forward to coming up to God's Own Countynext year for that cuppa.

Well Ian. If that offer from a Yorkshire man doesn’t get you spurred on. I don’t know what will 😜
-
It has certainly spurred me on but only as far as liking the new Kawasaki W230! I might be beyond hope with the MM but that little beauty has me salivating.
-
A Kawasaki W230 you say Ian? Bonny looking machine 👍
The mighty WHO???? I say 🤣…..
-
That Kwacker is a very tidy looking bike. May be in my future, but as always I'd wait till decent used ones come on the market.
-
It certainly is a very tempting little bike, I will be interested to see one in the flesh. It doesn't matter how appealing bigger bikes are I always find thumpettes more interesting. Maybe it's their light weight or the fact that any Tom, Dick or Harry can do a long ride on a 1000cc bike but doing it on a 230cc takes spirit.

I couldn’t agree more Ian. I/we had a cracking time back in September when we (me, big bro & and mate) did our “slug run” Went up to Moffat on the tiddlers. Our mate was on his Suzuki gs125.
Cheers, Michael

I knew you'd get it!
