Afternoon Gareth. You may have seen my recent post about me starting an RS250 street tracker that I intend to try and get finished in 5 months. Much to the amusement of Ian 🤣😉👍
So please can I put my name forward for the Oct show, obviously no real details on the bike as yet as it’s just a pile of bits.
Also.... I sadly can’t fully commit to coming down yet as I’m having to undergo further tests for prostate cancer. I’m going into hospital next week for a small exploratory operation. Thankfully nothing to serious at this point. But I won’t know what the next few months will bring until I/they get the results back in a few weeks time.
Obviously I’ll keep you posted on any developments, both with the bike and myself as I appreciate the time you must put into organising it all👍
Cheers, Michael

Gareth, I think I have a bit of making up to do. I will be there with AT LEAST one thumper or maybe 2 if I can arrange to get them there. Hope this helps and makes up for April 😂. (No holidays booked this time!)

Michael, joking apart, I sincerely hope that you are well enough when the time comes. It will be great to catch up again. (And see floating front mudguards amongst your many other inventions 😉🏍?)

I don't know if I have replied elsewhere but would love to come please Gareth.
I know Mark is interested in bringing one of his Thumpers (Indian Enfield or Triumph 400 scrambler.). He really enjoyed spending time with us in April. My son Sam might also like to come with his Velocette Venom which he finally took out for a spin the other day.
Happy to forgo my bike being on the stand if need be.
I hope things are going ok for you Michael and that we see you in October.
Thank you
Richard

Hi Richard. Thanks for the encouragement, but sadly no things aren’t going to good at the moment. The engine I bought for said 250 project was a complete bomb sight. (Literally) once it was stripped. So that is now away being rebuilt which is clearly not going to be a cheap job, hence the rest of the project has pretty much ground to a halt. The engine won’t be ready until late October, early November so that definitely counts me out of the show. I’ll hopefully try and get down for one of the days to catch up with you all… oh and I’d best be bringing a big bag of jelly babies 👶 As it would appear that the TC po leece were correct 🤦???
Cheers Michael

Michael much as I love having a laugh with you, I'm sad that your new project won't be "available" for this October's show. The crescendo was building nicely. Please do your best to come and visit us, health permitting!. I'm hoping to have the "new" SRX and one other thumper for the show. I may have to do quite a few journeys (4) on the Friday if I can't get a support rider. Fingers crossed on all counts 🤞🤞 ATB Ian

Morning Ian. Yes, definitely a shame I won’t have the 250 any where near ready for the show. I’ve even put the RS I bought from Kevin up for sale to hopefully bring in some cash which I can then inject straight into the 250 tracker build. Mainly the engine rebuild, which isn’t going to be cheap. However it should hopefully be as good, if not better than new upon its return to me. Once the engine is back and paid for I can set about the rest of the build.
Cheers..Michael
PS… health wise, yes, I’ve been diagnosed with prostrate cancer. However, luckily I/they’ve caught it in its early stages. So I’m now on “active surveillance” blood checks every three months plus the rubber gloved finger feel too 😮😜. Fortunately I feel absolutely tip top.
Thanks again for your best wishes 👍

Best wishes for your health Michael.

Morning all, not long to go to yet another amazing weekend. I hope you're all busy polishing your Thumpers! Well, maybe not John or Richard! I've booked a table at the Knot & Plough for 7 on Friday. Fingers crossed for fine weather, looking forward to seeing you all on Friday.
-
Evening Gareth. Really looking forward to catching up this weekend and thanks in advance for sorting the knot& plough on the Friday evening👍
The forecast so so is pretty good, fingers crossed it stays that way
Cheers, Michael

Hope the day has gone well and the evenings entertainment goes well, with you getting back in, without having to climb over the gates as we did on my last visit. Should be warmer and dry too, unlike my last visit.
Have a good final day, any info about the Bonham's auction and the price trends would be welcome.
Safe home too. Good health, Bill

All home safe, I trust?
Bill

Evening Bill. Yes, a great time was had by all (well definitely by me anyway 😁) over the weekend. As always, Gareth & Graham looked after us all brilliantly, feeding and watering us the entire weekend. So, again. Thanks to both of them for sorting it all out 👍
There were no shenanigans, at least I don’t think there was 🤔. However poor old Steve broke down on his way home in his VW bay window camper. Didn’t get home until 4am this morning.
Great to catch up with some regular faces and also great to meet some new faces too.
Here’s to April 🤞
Cheers, Michael

agai stafford was a great social weekend, thanks to gareth and graham for all their hard work setting it up and running the whole show.
was a bit of an expensive weekend for a couple of us though........ ;.)

I don't think you can do anything on the cheap now!
As I've posted on here before I think I regularly used to go to both Stafford show in the 90's / early noughties.
I even attended the first classic bike show at Bell Vue in 1980 where there was a small contingent of VJMC stalwarts IIRC, as of course in those days it was very much a brit bike scene.
I think it was Bob Berry of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics who incidental in starting the second Stafford show in October whereas the April show was more inclined to the brit bike side.
The show was great in these early days. At one time you could actually park (the car) in the area in front of the buildings on the showground itself. Bike parking wasn't a problem either then.
As the show became more successful, it necessarily had to be more regulated so rules and regulations became more onerous. When I first started a bit of autojumbling you could turn up very early in your car on the Saturday morning and unload it at the back of the halls and on the Sunday evening you could do the same to re-load anything not sold or given away!
When I last went, about 2014 it must have been, things were a lot busier and controlled. I'm not complaining as I understand these things have to be done properly but I can't help feeling some of that charm and excitement I used to feel was lost along the way.
Or may be I'm just a miserable old git with rose tinted glasses?

Aren't we all?
-
To be honest, I mainly go to support the TC club and the social side. Have a Catch up, a few beers and a bit of a giggle. Obviously chat to the odd interested show goer. Really enjoyed it last weekend. I think John meant it was an expensive weekend for him as he bought a bike while he was there.
I’ll let him spill the beans to exactly what machine he bought… 🤔😁
Lovely bike… that’s all saying 👍👍
Cheers, Michael

That'll be a Katana then? ;)

Nope… three cylinders a drift there Bill.
Dare I say it, the bike John bought is debatably more iconic than the katana 😮

Ah, you've given the game away. It's the 7 cylinder Benelli sei-ven, Allen Millyard conversion. 😁😎
-
Nope… it’s most definitely a single, a very classy single I might add. 🤔
-
Just seen the photos of said bike ....... oooooooh

It all becomes clear now!
Must have been a "starry starry night........"
