Title: Honda xbr 500 carburettor continually overflowing???
Post by: Silverfox on October 30, 2023, 05:08:21 PM
 Hi everyone,

I have an XBR that has been sat for 10+ years, so before trying to start it i have given the carb a good clean as there was a lot of muck and grime in there. Unfortunately when i connect the fuel line and turn tthe fule on the carb just keeps draining??? I have taken the carb off and checked the float is free and the valve seals, i blew down the fuel inlet and lifted the float and it sealed, tried it with fuel and just pours out??

Could it be a dodgy float?? Anyone have any ideas??

Cheers
Gareth

Aye Gareth,

Dodgy float, worn viton seal on needle, dirt on the needle seat/needle viton seal.

Float, needle, replace and insert fuel filters between the tank and the carby feed.

Hope this helps.

Good health, Bill

if its stood for a decade, any rubber o rings will have perished and cracked by now, so id strip and replace any that you can find, particularly if theres one on the needle valve mounting.
