Hi All
I have just returned from 3 days away in Yorkshire, specifically in and around the area containing Flamborough Head. I say containing Flamborough Head as I was staying at the Travelodge in Ferrybridge Services then going for rideabouts each day and mostly heading towards that bit of coast.
I've had a great three days, spent less than £40 on petrol, used about a millionth of my tyre tread, kept going through rain and high wind and eventual sunshine, eaten sausage rolls with a Starling and rode directly under a hovering Red Kite and generally had a blast. My GN250 hasn't missed a beat and has thrummed along at 50 everywhere.
Not everybody's cup of tea admittedly but to me a great 3 day adventure for less than a ticket to a MotoGP race. Bring it on.

Yes Ian sounds like a brilliant three days you had, it’s a part of the world I/we know reasonably well, brought up way a father that was obsessed with flamborough head and Whitby. Myself, big bro and a mate of ours ride out quite a bit to the east coast. Long may it continue I say. 👍👍

Sounds like our bimbling about up here. ;) The Travelodge option does tick the box in avoiding the soggy sleeping bag syndrome. My back copes with the ground, but Kat's doesn't any longer. Her comment was "Bliss!".
Keep thumpetting, the Moto Morini 125H is getting refurbished at present.

There is a great deal to be said for Thumpettes. Parsimonious with the petrol and tyres, none threatening to ride, and a real giggle.

I have found Travelodge to be clean and well run wherever I have been. Not only does using them mean I avoid cold, wet tent living, but also with power being at a minimum on the GN it means I don't carry heavy gear either.
There is definitely a sense of achievement when batting along on a small machine with meagre power and you cover miles of twisty undulating road at a consistent 50mph or so. Doubly so when managing to accelerate UPHILL. Obviously I have enjoyed riding bikes with far more power than I can use safely in the past, but now I love the challenge and economy of the Thumpette.
Michael, all sane people know that Yorkshire is God's own county (even if you have a bay named after that great Nottinghamshire hero Robin Hood) but I am only just beginning to realise how varied God liked his countryside. I will be exploring more in days to come.

Yes it's nice to potter along particularly as you get older but I still have my "younger" moments from time to time .You do have to make sure that you keep up concentration levels though. I had an idiot in a van pull out on me this week which wasn't initially a problem as I knew what he was going to do-but he then proceeded to pull out from the inside of the dual carriageway into the outside lane which I had moved to. He clearly hadn't seen me because when I blasted the horn he looked like a creature caught in the headlights down a country lane at night. He was so shocked the fag he was smoking nearly fell from his smug gob! By the way I always find Enfields to be really economical-especially when running in.
