I fear this signals the thin end of the wedge..and could be the beginning of the end for us petrol heads. I hope I am wrong but the tide seems to have turned on us now and will never be the same again.

There is some hope :-

I think we should be investing in this rather than the headlong rush into unfit for purpose battery powered ev's. By all means push ahead with development until batteries can be recharged in 5 minutes, and the infrastructure is there to support it, but untill then, this seems like the ideal way to bridge the gap. However, this requires our leaders to actually use common sense rather than pc virtue signalling and so is therefore probably doomed.

Well as the owner of an elderly Boxster that does provide some hope that we're not all doomed (just yet).

E10 will be a bit of a pain for motorcyclists, fuel injection motorcycles have a bit of built in compensation and its all automated. Our older carbed bikes will need a really good go over of the complete fuel system, fuel lines that are compatable, any carb rubbers and O rings may need to be changed and some jetting up will be needed, there may also be carb iceing problems associated.
My view on electric bikes and all other electric vehicles, electric motors are a great idea, massive torque so no gearbox is needed, and fairly light weight compared to a similar power ic engine, the downside is should the controller break down its major expense and charging times are very long and battery capicity is not that great, so no long drives in a day, and now to the big one there is not enough lithium in the world to replace all the ic powered vehicles that are around now, the alternitive is sodium it is very plentiful but sodium battries are still a very long way off, fuel cells are a great idea and so is hydrogen as a fuel either for fuel cells or modified ic engines
