Excellent, though a shame he was able to get up and run away...

More proportional/safer in Manchester?

Personally I think anything that let's these little shits know that what they are doing is unacceptable is fine by me, roasting in oil, nailing to a tree, being made to listen to Justin Bieber, whatever it takes. I speak as someone who has had three bikes stolen in the last four years, including a six week old Honda CRF250L. I work hard for my money and spend it frugally so why should these bastards be able to deprive me of what I have worked for? I don't worry about their health as they stepped outside of reasonable behaviour so the rules no longer apply.
I know I am a reactionary, old bigot, but I really don't care anymore. In fact it is quite liberating!

Ian I'm with you all the way on this one, how you feel and what you want to do to them.

I beg to differ with my namesakes. I'll have to change mine now......

Why is that iansoady?

Yes.. I’m definitely with Ian and Spartacus on this one. Money is hard earned, especially when one does a manual trade like I do (plumber) I’m on my knees nearly all day everyday. Plus I’m not getting any younger. So if I caught someone knicking ANYTHING of mine I honestly don’t think I could be held accountable for my actions towards them. Bring back the stocks I say... or as Ian, oops sorry Spartacus says. Stick them in a cell for a weekend with Justin Bieber on loop 24/7 😉🤘
Scumbags.. the lot of em

I think you will be ok keeping the ian part of iansoady as Jaqueline and I have changed that for ourselves.
I think that is what is missing Michael, good hard work. These kids wouldn't know how to do the amount of physical graft you do in a day. My son who runs the garage offered to take his 19 year old step-son on as an apprentice even though he has split up from the kid's mother. The lazy shit went one day, said he didn't know what a 13mm spanner was, refused to sweep up and hasn't been back since as he prefers to stay in bed all day. That should not be an option for a healthy young man.

Because I don't believe that draconian retribution actually does much to reduce crime. It didn't in Victorian times when children were transported for stealing a loaf of bread. What it does do is demonstrate a total lack of compassion and understanding.
I'm not saying that perpetrators are angels but don't believe that harsh punishment actually does much to change behaviour.

Maybe not, let’s not forget though the kids that used to steal loafs of bread back in the Victorian days weren’t given free money in the form of benefits. So giving the lowlife scumbags loads of free hand outs in the form of money which are called “benefits” oh the irony. It certainly doesn’t seem to benefit me in any way, yet it’s me and millions more like me who divvy up their taxes to pay for said benefits. Yet they still feel the need to go out thieving from decent, honest people. I don’t mind, in fact I genuinely like being generous whenever I can, especially to people who I think are worth the gesture. However I personally have to draw the line with scumbags 😡😡
Rant over, on a much more positive, BIKE related note. My CCM (which I’ve worked extremely hard to afford to buy I might add) is starting to get built tomorrow. Hopefully take delivery in about three weeks 🤞

I am glad that people with your compassion exist. However I spent 15 years working with these type of kids and did all of the compassion stuff I could. I got a lot of change in some kids and zero in others. I had four ribs broken when one young man took his anger out on me, but still carried on with compassion. I now believe I wasted 15 years of my life.
The day centre I currently work in was broken into recently by young scum who decided that as there was nothing worth stealing they would just trash the place. The people who use the centre have profound and multiple disabilities and life-limiting conditions so staying at home for a couple of days whilst we cleaned up was a big deal. Compassion? The only compassion I would have shown would be with a baseball bat.
Sorry Ian, I am as I say glad that you can still be charitable but count me out.
