Title: Imatra XBR link
Post by: themoudie on January 12, 2021, 01:35:32 PM
A lot of time and effort has been put into this machine.

BUT!  :-\  Why, oh why is there nothing to stop the rear tyre throwing all manner of detritous straight down the carb bellmouth? ???

Another "form over function" gaff!  :(

So, which of the XBR fraternity on this site are going to rescue that XBR "project" from the back of the heap and give it a rebuild?  ;)

Good health, Bill

Can I add this link, as the pics can be pinched to zoom 👍

How's that oil tank supported, then? Clever people👏Plus, those shocks are not as flash as I was expecting 👍 for Hagons.

nice bike but i would not fancy going flat out on that bike when a big stone gets  sucked in to the carb , and that oil tank would vibrate  and probably put alot of air bubbles into the oil system ,if it does not fall off in a lap or two  tommy

Thats a great looking XBR :) Yes it really does need protection from muck being thrown into the carb

Indeedy it does Joolz. I’ve looked at the photo quite a few times now and still can’t make out just how, the oil tank is supported. If indeed it is. Something tells me it isn’t, just nipped the bottom bolts up tight to hold it in place to make it look cool for the photo shoot.

I zoomed in on that oil tank, it does seem unsafe, it sits on the front bolts but there is nothing supporting the rear of the tank to stop it flapping around

I did wonder if there was some form of cantilevered bracket, blended in to give the effect, but I reckon Michael's nailed it.
